A UK cane rod-making week could be on the cards – if there’s enough support. Classic Angling editor Keith Elliott hopes to generate enough interest to organise a residential workshop, where those taking part would make their own rod under expert guidance. “I know how well it works at the Catskill Fly Fishing Centre and Museum, where an annual workshop is allways full. Is there enough enthusiasm for such a workshop here? I don’t know, but I’m happy to organise it, if enough people get in touch.” Depending on the support, he said that it could either be organised to build a fly rod or a Mark IV-style 10-footer. He would be happy to receive expressions of interest from elsewhere in Europe.
