Nova Scotia is looking at introducing licences to fish its tidal waters. Al McNeil, resource manager with Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture, said that the province is examining several licensing issues, including a move to regulate the province’s tidal or salt waters. “We would love to extend our jurisdiction for licensing for sea-trout into tidal waters,” said McNeil. “We’re working with Fisheries and Oceans Canada on that and looking at bigger issues of consolidating sport fishing licences.” Other changes being examined include a seniors’ licence at a discounted rate, a family licence and a separate licence for people who only catch-and-release salmon.
