The latest edition of Classic Angling features a photograph of the 4lb 8oz rudd caught in 1933 by the Rev EC Alston in Norfolk. The fish, which was mounted by the great London taxidermist William Griggs, is one of two in the case – and the other rudd weighs 4lb 4oz. It was part of the greatest rudd catch of all time, caught in one evening. And on the subject of giant rudd, John Bailey reveals the day he caught a rudd that could easily have been over 5lb.
