This is my dog Dougal, looking extremely guilty after tucking into a bag of strawberry-flavoured groundbait in the back of my car this weekend. He managed to create this mess in under 10 minutes. I’d picked up a couple of friends and had to move some tackle and bait into the boot to clear some space inside. When I got out to unload their bags, there was Dougal, his nose tucked into a large bag of groundbait that he’d stolen from a plastic bag and opened, spraying it everywhere in his desperation to eat as much as he could before he was discovered. The boot (and their bags) were covered in fine crumb, and the dog had strawberry-covered flanks, paws and nose. The only good thing: my car now smells not of dog but strawberry.
