Well, looks like anglers won’t get the chance to catch fish like this any more, thanks to the stupid Indian ruling that there should be no fishing in game parks. This camp at Gallbore was the last one to survive, largely because there was government interest in it. The game parks are one of the few places where mahseer flourish, because anglers bring much-needed income to the area, and it’s in the guides’ interest to keep out poachers. What will happen now? No anglers, no need to protect the mahseer. The fish will be dynamited, netted and disappear. Don’t you love bureaucracy? Watch the video (not that great, but it shows you a wonderful fish at the end) here.
