Anyone who’s put a float on their line will enjoy Hooked on Floats, a book being launched next month. Though it’s weighted towards the British market, where there has always been a healthy and creative trade in floats, it has excellent sections on European, US and Far Eastern floats. It will make you look at the floats in your tackle box in a very different way (Wow! have I got one of those?), but it’s not a historical work: it’s more of a celebration of floats. It’s great value at £50 (signed and numbered), offering more than 400 pages and a wealth of excellent photographs. But the author, Jeff della Mura, is only printing 340 of the regular edition and 60 leather-bound at £210, and I suspect they will fly out the door as soon as it’s launched. Get in quick.
