A Leonard rod, flies by top tyers and Lee Wulff’s watch are among the items at an auction being run by the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum on November 10. Though the sale is live at the museum in Livingston, New York, you can leave absentee bids on the items, which carry only a 10% buyers’ premium. Wulff’s watch comes with a photo of him wearing it, and it carries provenance from his wife Joan. The flies, which include a dozen Frances Stevens full dressed salmon flies (12), all carry impeccable provenance too. Modern rods include a Hardy Smuggler and a couple by Orvis, while as well as the Leonard Tournament, there are two fine bamboo rods by Hans Roeper, who died in 1992. On the day after the sale, there is a discovery auction of lower-priced lots, again at the museum. You can find a pdf giving details of the lots and an absentee bidder form here.
