Forty teams of two anglers failed to catch a fish after two days in the Ranger Boats World Championship, the final event on the professional musky tournament trail. It meant the top prize, a Ranger fishing boat, and the second prize of $4200 had to be raffled. The event was held at Green Bay, Wisconsin, and it was the first time in the 14-year history of the pro tournament series that no fish were caught. The muskellunge is known as the fish of 10,000 casts, and it certainly justified its reputation. Anglers blamed a series of cold fronts and high winds, plus an industrial dredging project on the Fox River that coloured the water. One competitor joked afterwards: “There was a 40-way tie for first place.” Full story here.
