Speculation about the new owner of Hardy is rife in the tackle trade, with the magazine Tackle Trade World making guesses on a possible buyer. Our contacts say that the number of companies expressing an interest has been whittled down from over 100 to around 30, and that there is strong US and Far Eastern interest. A decision is far from imminent, because Hardy and Grey’s owner, Harris & Sheldon, will want to ensure that the iconic company goes to a sympathetic buyer. But I don’t think it will be taken over by some of those listed in Tackle Trade World as likely contenders, like Zebco, Pure Fishing, SportsDirect.com or even Rapala.
